Rev. Michelle Freeman will preach about Mark 9:38-50. Jesus gives warnings using harsh words in the Gospel lesson from Mark. Jesus does not mean the words literally but metaphorically. The harsh language is meant to get our attention. The message is the same. What you do for the least of these, you do to me. What stumbling blocks do you have which need to be removed from your life? What dead weight do you possess in your life that you need to toss like smelly garbage?
Reverend Michelle E. Freeman was born in Austin, Texas during the heart of the Civil Rights Movement. She lived in Austin until April 1999. She and her beloved wife of 26 1/2 years, Reverend Georgia Chambers packed up their belongings and moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex which started the embarkation of a wild journey which has taken them across the United States. Reverend Michelle and Reverend Georgia are both May 2012 graduates of Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri with Master of Divinity degrees. They are both ordained ministers in the United Church of Christ. Reverend Georgia is a board certified Senior Hospital Trauma Chaplain at Ascension St. Vincent Medical Center – Evansville, Indiana.
