Speaker: Lisa Masengale
Lisa Masengale is the Curator of Historic Structures for the City of Riverside’s Museum Department. Formerly, she worked at California State Parks in Monterey, CA, and the Living Computer Museum in Seattle, WA. Lisa earned her BA in Archaeology and MA in the Archaeology of Buildings at the University of York, UK. She also previously worked in the curatorial departments of the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum in Leadville, CO, and the Gaston County Museum of Art & History in Dallas, NC. Lisa loves scouring thrift stores, flea markets, and estate sales for treasures and is a proud “pom mom” to her beloved Pomeranian mix, Rocky.
The story of Harada House is one family’s strugglefor their civil and individual rights. Because of the family’s triumph in this fight, the house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1990, the federal government’s highest recognition of historic significance. It is currently overseen by the Museum of Riverside.
