“Flower Communion,” by Alec Peck

The Flower Ceremony, or Flower Communion, is an annual ritual that celebrates beauty, human uniqueness, diversity, and community. In this ceremony, everyone brings a flower to place in a shared vase. The congregation blesses the flowers, and then given back out, with each person bringing home a different flower than the one they brought. Our spirit is like a garden, filled with the plants and flowers that make us who we are. We don’t always get to choose what seeds make their way into our soil, but we can choose what we nurture and what we let go of. We can choose to nurture our beauty together.
