Abolition, Transformation and Faith Formation
In June, delegates from UU Churches across the country and beyond gathered in Baltimore and online for the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association. During this event, they voted on several important matters, including a Congregational Study/Action Issue (CSAI) titled “Abolition Transformation and Faith Formation.” A CSAI is a topic that UUs are called to learn about and act on over the next 2 years, after which the UUA will create a statement of conscience about this issue.
In October 2025, we had a series of services devoted to exploring this topic:
- September 28th: Love is Abolition presented by our Social & Environmental Justice Committee Chair
- October 5th: Love is R/evolution presented by Vonya Quarels
- October 12th: Healing the Past to Imagine the Future presented by Rev. Victoria Bomberry
- October 19th: Abolition Within presented by Ipyani Lockert
- October 26th: Police Alternatives to 911 presented by Jazmin Chagolla of CAT 911 (Unfortunately, this service wasn’t recorded)
